This book tells the story of a generation of artists and curators that transformed Mexico's art scene in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The title alludes to the now iconic building on Licenciado Verdad Street in Mexico City's Historic Center, which for a period of about ten years cradled the movement. It was there that artists, writers and curators such as María Guerra, Eloy Tarcisio.
Various types of visual arts developed in the geographical area now known as Mexico. The development of these arts roughly follows the history of Mexico, divided into the prehispanic Mesoamerican era, the colonial period, with the period after Mexican War of Independence, the development Mexican national identity through art in the nineteenth century, and the florescence of modern Mexican art.
