In the biblical Book of Esther, Vashti is the wife of King Ahasuerus, the ruler of Persia. According to the midrash, Vashti (ושתי) was the great-granddaughter of King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon and the daughter of King Belshazzar, making her a Babylonian.
